Constantin Font (1890-1954)
We can not imagine no more the glory that was his in the beginning of the 20th century. In other words, a native of Auch who won the Prix de Rome in 1921! He also won the Gold Medal at the prestigious Salon des Artistes Français in 1922, becoming a painter out of contest! In his native Gascony, this was all anyone could talk about, especially as this young master was to be elected to the Institut in 1926 without ever forgetting his passion: : nudes and landscapes. He was such a landscape painter that, behind his easel, buoyed by the natural light, he was capable, as an emulator of Monet, of painting the same landscape three times in a row, tracking the nuance, and therefore the perfection, of his light touch. A century later, his paintings are still enchanting.
