Hervé Di Rosa (born in 1959)
He is one of the world’s most renowned living French painters. A historic career stamped with the colors of “figuration libre”, a movement born in the early 80s under his own impulse and that of Ben, Robert Combas, François Boisrond and Rémi Blanchard A museum career launched by the important critic Bernard Lamarche-Vadel, the first to understand the undeniable originality of these young artists linked as much to art history as to rock music, comics, the liberation of mores, the evolution of tastes and provocation.
Hervé Di Rosa continues to take advantage of these different sources, offering a work that is now accomplished because it is constantly renewed. All paths tempt him, all roads call to him. And for him, everything makes sense… That is why Hervé Di Rosa, elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 2022, was keen to found, back in 2000, with Bernard Belluc, the Musée Internationale des Arts Modestes in Sète, now directed by Françoise Adamsbaum. And that is why he could not turn a deaf ear to the craft genius and exceptional aesthetic rendering of aquagravure. Tradition, curiosity, modernity. A sort of self-portrait. And a testament, never finished, always reworked, transformed and embellished, with his artistic career…
