Alfred Lesbros
He was contemporary to Paul Signac: they met under the Provençal light, and young Alfred Lesbros, self-taught painter, tried pointillism in his turn, influenced by the pointillism master. Then, too impatient and free, he decided to enlarge his palette with a little influence from Émile-Othon Friesz and a lot of influence from Auguste Chabaud. He thus found his originality: a painting marked by warm colours, and this je ne sais quoi immediately recognizable that defines the perfect small masters.
