Jean Giono only had eyes for his thick, greasy and colourful paint. “In front of his still-life, his farms, his reaper, I don’t think it’s ridiculous to say the name Cézanne”, Marcel Pagnol wrote. In fact, Pierre Ambrogiani, very represented in the Musée Cantini and in the Palais Longchamp of Marseille, had fervent admirers. One is allowed to prefer his stripped stroke, immediately recognizable: that of a great draughtsman.
